York’s giant Santa is back – and he’s raising money for a fantastic charity

The jolly red giant has returned to York.

For the last couple of Christmases, people have goggled at the size of the Santa who towers over houses in Upper Poppleton.

The 8m (26ft) tall inflatable Father Christmas is found in the garden of the Routledge family, on Hodgson Lane on the Green opposite the Lord Collingwood pub.

Also in the garden is a fantastic lights show, and two snow machines you can operate with your foot.

The supersize Santa is not just great fun – he’s a fundraiser too.

And this year Peter and Kathryn Routledge and their two boys have chosen to support The Millie Wright Children’s Charity.
