A York shop is set to shut.
The sofa.com store on Coppergate has launched a closing down sale.
It will bring to an end three and a half years of trading on the street.
Sofa.com moved in to number 10 Coppergate in 2022, opening in July that year.
It was the company’s first stand-alone showroom for five years, and the store created six jobs.
Previous to the opening the unit had stood vacant for the best part of 12 years. Apart from a six month renaissance as home to record shop That’s Entertainment, it had been empty since 2009.
The York branch has 4,000 sq ft of trading space and includes a kids’ arcade zone, coffee facilities, an area for dogs and a ‘sleep’ sanctuary to try their mattress range.

It was opened by then Lord Mayor of York Cllr David Carr.
At the time Clare Taggart, retail operations manager, said: “We are thrilled to finally open our York showroom and bring the sofa.com brand to the area.
“As our first standalone store in five years, we have brought all of our newest ideas and concepts to the space.”
We have asked sofa.com for the reasons for the closure and will update when we hear back.
