Updated: Man arrested after York river incident

Emergency services closed off part of the riverside in York city centre this morning (Monday) – after a man threatened to go in the water.

Fire and ambulance crews were at King’s Staith responding to an incident. They were restricting access to South Esplanade too.

Three rescue boats were also in the water – two crewed by firefighters, the other by the York Rescue Boat.
