The York Board Games Convention (YBGC) has announced it will return for its third year this autumn – bringing three days of tabletop gaming, tournaments, and family-friendly fun.
Taking place from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October 2026 at St Peter’s School, this year’s event promises to be the biggest and most inclusive edition yet.
The 2026 convention will feature more gaming space, an expanded board games library, a wider variety of traders, and longer opening hours.
Attendees can look forward to a massive, free-to-use board games library, expert-led role-playing games (RPGs) such as Dungeons & Dragons, tournaments, and a convention-wide treasure hunt for the coveted golden ticket!
Tickets are set to go on sale at midday on 4 June 2026 to those signed up to the YBGC early access list, with an exclusive 20% discount available for those who book within the first 24 hours.
In a bid to make the weekend an affordable option for families, children aged 16 and under can attend the convention entirely for free.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing the York Board Games Convention back for its third year,” said Ryan Willis, founder of YBGC.
“Last year was a phenomenal success, and seeing our gaming space reach full capacity was proof of just how vibrant the gaming community is here.
“This year, we’re focused on making the event bigger, better, and more accessible. Tabletop gaming is for everyone, and it is incredibly important to us that the convention is a welcoming, inclusive space where families, casual players, and veteran gamers can all come together to share their passion.”
“We’re excited to be able to grow and welcome new people to tabletop gaming each year,” said co-director Matt Coward-Gibbs.
“Being able to co-create spaces that welcomes everyone and are free from as many barriers as possible is central to what we do. Alongside this, it is fantastic to be able to support independent traders from across the city and beyond.”
The event will open at 9am daily, running from 9am to 11pm on Friday 23 October and Saturday 24 October, and from 9am to 5pm on Sunday 25 October.
