York firefighters dig in to save home from flooding

York firefighters helped save a home from flooding last night (Thursday).

They were called to Borrowdale Drive in Rawcliffe after a burst water main threatened to flood the property.

Water had already inundated the garden.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “An officer assessed the scene and an appliance was mobilised to assist.

“The crew dug a hole in the rear garden and then used a light portable pump to pump the water away.”
