A York attraction is celebrating its first birthday with discounts throughout all of January.
The Puzzling World of Professor Kettlestring first opened its doors on 10 January last year, and since then thousands of visitors have entered into a world where nothing is quite as it seems – from mind-bending optical illusions to playful puzzles.

“It’s been a year of learning, adapting, and plenty of problem-solving,” said owners Marianne and Matthew. “But watching visitors engage with the illusions and return with friends or family has made it all worthwhile.”
To mark both its first anniversary and the York Residents Festival, the attraction is offering 20% off walk-in admission throughout January for those helping keep York running.
The offer is available to staff working in hospitality, tourism, culture and retail. Including staff working within restaurants, cafés, hotels, museums, attractions, tours, and shops.
The 20% off is available Monday-Friday with proof of York address and a hospitality wage slip dated within the last 3 months.
“We want to offer the Yorkies who will be working the Residents Festival weekend the opportunity to also enjoy what our city has to offer, and we hope other businesses will join us in celebrating the hospitality teams that make our city great,” said Matthew.
Also, as part of the Residents Festival weekend (Saturday 30 January – Sunday 1 February) The Puzzling World will be opening one hour early on both days and the first 50 adventurers in the queue will be admitted for free.
“It’s just our way of thanking the local community for their super support.”
