Woman taken to hospital after street attack in York

A woman needed hospital treatment after being attacked in York city centre.

Police have today issued a description of the assailant, a man in his 20s.

The incident happened on the corner of Davygate and New Street at midnight between Saturday 5 November and Sunday 6 November.

The suspect involved has been described as

  • a white male
  • in his mid 20s
  • skinny
  • and wearing a back pack.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident on 6 November and has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Did you see what happened? Or do you have any information about the suspect?”
