Wear it pink on the 24th

October marks Breast Cancer awareness month across the globe.

Breast Cancer Now is the charity responsible for raising awareness and organising Wear It Pink.

They are the UK’s leading charity devoted to finding a cure for breast cancer.

On 24th October, people take part in Wear It Pink by wearing pink and donating as much as they can.

To date, this event has raised over £43 million, all to help people diagnosed and affected by breast cancer.

Certainly, in York, it’s so easy to play your part by just following the three steps on Breast Cancers Now’s website.

Sign up, set up your JustGiving page, and start planning! That’s all you need to do to help with life- changing research.

According to Breast Cancer Now, 1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer in the UK

Breast cancer affects women most often, but men can develop it too.

Each year in the UK, breast cancer is diagnosed in around 55,000 women and 400 men.

For longer than 20 years, Breast Cancer Now has been promoting Wear It Pink.

Ultimately, this has made it one of the biggest fundraisers in the UK.

Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink manager Kinie Kaur says:

“We’re so incredibly grateful to anyone taking part in Wear It Pink this October. Their support means the world to us and will help us make a real difference to anyone affected by breast cancer. Every 9 minutes, someone in the UK is told they have breast cancer. That’s why events like this matter so much. Whether it’s having an all-pink dress-up day at work, hosting tennis tournaments, or getting your pals together for sponsored knitting sessions, by wearing pink and raising money, you’re not just funding vital research and support, you’re showing people who are facing breast cancer that they’re not alone. Together we can create a future where everyone with breast cancer lives and is supported to live well. We truly couldn’t do it without you. If you haven’t signed up yet, do it now… wear it pink with us.”
