A Strictly Come Dancing star has wished a York theatre company good luck for their opening night.
Neil Jones, one of BBC Strictly Come Dancing‘s professional dancers, has sent an opening night message to Pick Me Up Theatre as they begin performances of the musical comedy Anything Goes.
Watch the special good luck video from Neil below!
The video message was made possible as Saskia, daughter of Pick Me Up’s Anything Goes choreographer Ali Kirkham, works in the BBC show in production.
“I just want to wish everyone the best of at Anything Goes in York, for Pick Me Up Theatre,” said Strictly star Neil.
“Smash it, and don’t forget keep dancing as well!”
Neil has been on Strictly Come Dancing since 2016, when he joined the professional lineup. He was first partnered with a celebrity in 2019, and last year was partnered with music icon Toyah Willcox.
Cole Porter’s iconic musical Anything Goes features heart-warming romance, show-stopping dance routines and a joyful, uplifting score – including well-known songs such as ‘I Get A Kick Out of You’, ‘You’re the Top’, ‘Blow, Gabriel, Blow’ and of course, the titular spectacle ‘Anything Goes’.
The show is directed by Andrew Isherwood, with choreography by Ali Kirkham, and musical direction by John Atkin. The cast features Alexandra Mather as Reno Sweeney, Claire Gordon Brown as Hope Harcourt, Adam Price as Billy Crocker, and Fergus Powell as Moonface Martin.
Anything Goes begins performances tonight, Friday 12 December, at Theatre@41, Monkgate.
The show will run until Tuesday 30 December. Tickets start from £18 and are available via the theatre’s website.
