This is the moment a man apparently took against some innocent flowers on York’s most famous street.
The video, shared online by The Cheesecake Guy, the dessert shop on Shambles, happened at around 8pm last night (Monday).
Captured by the CCTV camera on Shambles pub The King’s Inn, it shows the perpetrator furtively approach the front of the shuttered Cheesecake Guy shop.
Looking around to see if anyone is watching, he then goes to work on the floral display hunt on the front of the building.
He tears the petals from some items, then grabs two plants, rips them out and drops them on the floor.
He then walks away grinning.
The video has been seen more than 170,000 times. The Cheesecake Guy posted: “This absolute idiot destroyed my flower pot for no reason whatsoever.
“If anyone knows him please let me know. I would like to have a chat with him.”
The top comment suggested planting a cactus next time.
The King’s Inn told us there have been more than 15 crimes on Shambles in the last year – and its CCTV has been used to catch the perpetrators in half of them because it’s so clear.
