Two North Yorkshire youngsters shortlisted in RSPCA Young Photographer award

Two fun and striking photos have seen North Yorkshire young photographers shortlisted for a top wildlife award.

Harry Hollingsworth, 13, and 15-year-old Isaac Savage are both finalists in this year’s RSPCA Young Photographer People’s Choice Award.

They are among a shortlist of 15 of the best funny and fascinating images of pets and wild animals.

This is Harry’s picture, ‘The world turned upside down’. It shows cute black-and-white shot of a cat throwing his head back to look at the camera:

And this is Isaac’s image, ‘Screeching from the rooftops’. It shows two squawking gulls caught mid-screech, sitting on top of the historic Abeyconwy House in Wales:

Andrew Forsyth, RSPCA photographer and judge, said: “The photos shortlisted for the People’s Choice award this year are fantastic and wonderfully varied – from sweet and funny snaps of pets showing off their unique personalities to stunning close-up, detailed shots.

“It’s a brilliant collection of images from some truly passionate and talented young people, and we encourage everyone to not only enjoy these photos, but to vote for their favourite too.”

The People’s Choice voting is only open for one week – starting today (17 March) from 12.30pm and closing on Tuesday 24 March at midnight.
