Traffic police had two crashes to deal with overnight.
On Twitter, TC David Minto reported that he and his colleagues attended a single vehicle collision at Knaresborough.
The driver provided a positive breathalyser test, was arrested and charged.
In a separate incident, a VW Polo collided with parked cars at Kirby Hill, Boroughbridge.
TC Minto said the driver made off from the scene, but was located and provided a positive breath test. The driver was released under investigation and inquiries continue.
