Two crews called to fire at York home

Firefighters were called to a fire in a York home yesterday evening (Tuesday).

York and Huntington crews responded to reports of the incident at Beech Avenue at 5.36pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire to curtains in a first-floor bedroom had been caused by an unattended candle.

“On the arrival of crews, the fire had been extinguished by a neighbour.

“Crews made the scene safe and gave advice to the occupant.”
