Firefighters were today called to three incidents where people had driven into floodwater today.
At 7.32am, Acomb firefighters were called to Ox Moor Lane in Cattal, between York and Harrogate, where a motorist was stuck on the roof of their car after getting stuck.
The water was halfway up the door.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews waded through the water to assist the person to dry land and to a safe location.
“Recovery for the vehicle had been arranged by the driver and advice was given.”
At 11.08am, Ripon firefighters responded to a vehicle that had driven into floodwater on Boroughbridge Road, Bishop Monkton.
“The driver had been rescued by a passing member of the public prior to fire service crews arrival,” the spokesperson said.
“Crews waded through the water with level two swift water rescue equipment and cordoned the road off with cones and tape to temporarily close the road.”
Then at 1.49pm, fire crews from Acomb and York went to a vehicle stuck in floodwater on York Bridge Road.
“The elderly vehicle occupant and their dog were moved to dry land by fire crews in swift water rescue equipment as they were unable to self extricate.
“The vehicle was left in a safe place and highways were informed of the flooded road. Crew power used only.”
