Swing set on fire in York play area

Firefighters were called to a fire in a York play area last night (Wednesday).

It was at the Derwenthorpe Children’s Park off Lotherington Avenue at 8.26pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from York responded to a report of a fire to a swing in a play area.

“The fire was out on the arrival of crews who dampened down the area using buckets of water.”
