The Met Office has issued a snow and ice warning which covers York and most of North Yorkshire
The yellow warning covers much of the North of England and is in force from 7pm tomorrow (Thursday) to midday on Friday.
“Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow likely to lead to icy surfaces and some travel disruption,” the Met Office says.

This could lead to injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, icy patches on some untreated roads, and longer journey times on some roads and rail routes.
It comes after a long spell of rainy weather, leading to flooding along the riverside in York.
There is one flood warning for our area today, meaning flooding is expected, and that is for the River Derwent at Buttercrambe Mill
And five flood alerts have been issued, meaning flooding is possible:
- Upper River Ouse
- Upper River Derwent
- Lower River Derwent
- River Foulness and Market Weighton catchment
- Ings Beck and Oakenshaw Beck
The good news is, it’s still forecast for a sunny day on Saturday.
