Some very colourful characters will be in town this weekend.
Characters from Shrek The Musical will be in York city centre on Saturday (20 July) between 12pm and 2.30pm.
The show is being staged at the Grand Opera House in September by York Stage Musicals.
And Princess Fiona, Donkey, Pinocchio, Sugar Plum Fairy and Peter Pan will be meeting and greeting everyone as part of a fun-filled day in York.
That’s because it’s also the Emergency Services Community Day.
Police officers, firefighters, ambulance personnel, the York Street Rangers and the York Rescue Boat volunteers will be at Queen’s Staith from 11am.
As part of the day you can learn how to stay safe around water and watch live water rescue demonstrations from York Rescue Boat and North Yorkshire fire teams.
And you can see emergency vehicles and equipment up close.
