A fire was started deliberately in a York park this afternoon (Saturday).
Acomb firefighters went to the incident in the park off Bellhouse Way at 1.50pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival the crews found a fire to approx 5m by 2m of grassland.

“They used buckets and knapsacks to extinguish the fire which was believed to have been caused deliberately.”
Later, at 4.07pm, Acomb firefighters went to another report of grassland on fire, this time in the Rawcliffe area.
“On arrival the fire measured approx 20 x 20 metres. The crews extinguished fully using 45 jet and beaters. Police were informed of the incident,” the fire service spokesperson said.
