Raise your voice! York month-long singing campaign launched

York-based youth homelessness charity, Safe and Sound Homes (SASH), is calling on the local community to raise their voices this month.

This May, the charity have launched a Sing for SASH Month campaign.

Following the success of its annual Christmas Sing for SASH events, the charity is expanding the initiative into a month-long campaign – encouraging supporters to organise their own singing-themed fundraising events throughout the month of May.

From gigs and concerts to karaoke nights, talent shows, and busking events, SASH is inviting individuals, schools, community groups, and businesses to get involved.

Whether hosted in a pub, café, garden, or even at home, events can be as big or small as organisers choose. Local venues such as pubs, bars, and cafés are also encouraged to participate by hosting live music or charity karaoke evenings.

Funds raised during Sing for SASH Month will support the charity’s vital work providing safe, emergency accommodation for young people facing homelessness. SASH also equips young people with the skills needed for independent living, helping them build stable futures and break the cycle of homelessness.

Aimee Harding, Fundraising Officer at SASH, said: “We are so excited to bring back our Sing for SASH Month campaign for its 4th year.

Sing for SASH is a fun and creative way to fundraise while raising awareness of youth homelessness. Singing lifts spirits, brings people together, and supports wellbeing – values at the heart of everything we do at SASH.

“By getting involved, supporters can help us make a real and lasting difference for young people who need it most.”

SASH needs to raise approximately £500,000 each year to deliver its services to young people across York and surrounding areas.
