Public meeting planned to discuss traffic changes during York races

York Racecourse is seeking views from people who live on and around Tadcaster Road about traffic management.

They are holding a public meeting along with local councillors on May 5th at the Studio at Stableside opposite the Fox and Roman pub.

It will start at 5.30pm.

Local Lib Dem Councillor Stephen Fenton will be there and says it follows the change announced where the racecourse will take over traffic control from the City of York Council this year.

He told YorkMix Radio: “They’re proposing to make a few small tweaks to the way that race day traffic is managed, and they want to meet with residents and councillors to discuss how they see things working this year.

Full details of any ideas for change will come out at the meeting.

Cllr Fenton added: “The traffic management system that’s currently in place, for the most part, works well, but if there are ways in which it can be improved, and I think that’s obviously worth exploring, I’m sure residents will be keen to have their say. The racecourse is a big part of York. Sometimes there can be frustrations.

“This is the resident’s opportunity to come and chat to the team about how the race day traffic management can be made even better.”
