Localised thunderstorms have caused power cuts across North Yorkshire. Northern Powergrid says they are working hard to restore the service as quickly as possible, when it is safe to do so.
There have been reports of supplies failing in Copmanthorpe, Harrogate, Richmond and Ampleforth.
Northern Powergrid says: “Supporting customers is our priority – report your power cut online so we can keep you updated.
“Our website provides the latest information, that’s the same as what’s available to our contact centre team.
“For customers who are part of our Priority Services Membership we’ll contact you to discuss any additional help we may be able to provide.
“If you are in a dangerous situation, there is risk to life, or you are medically dependent on electricity please call us on 105.
“If you have a medical emergency, please call 999 immediately.”
Parts of Whitby have seen flash flooding from the rain, Victoria Square was badly hit this afternoon. Yellow Level Alerts for Thunder and Rain remain in force til around 9pm across the county.
