After the founders spent half a year searching the UK for the perfect combination of an iconic building and location, Ruby Rae’s will be opening in York.
It is a live country music bar and line dancing venue which is already popular in Newcastle where the owners opened one just over a year ago.
Located at 2 Micklegate, it will feature cowboy hats, a Nashville-inspired drinks menu and country music atmosphere. It is a formula the owners believe has made Ruby Rae’s Newcastle a destination for country music lovers in the North East.
To celebrate the launch, which is set to be in the next week, the team will bring their famous Ruby Rae’s experience to York with a promotional campaign. It will feature horses and country music performers from Newcastle who will be appearing at iconic locations across the city, wearing the venue’s signature cowboy hats and giving the unmistakable Nashville spirit.
Founder Dean Saunders said, “We’re over the moon to open our second ever Ruby Rae’s venue, especially in such an iconic city! Over the last six months we’ve looked at some really exciting opportunities, but we’ve managed to find our dream venue for our own little Ryman right here in York and we love it!”
Fellow founder Dan Cooke said, “We have built an incredible country music community in Newcastle and even welcomed almost 20 artists from Nashville to perform at Ruby Rae’s! Everyone loves the atmosphere, the dancing, live music and getting into the country music scene.”
During a trip to Nashville, Dean and Dan were inspired by the legendary Mother Church, the Ryman Auditorium and the atmosphere it creates for live music. That experience gave them the confidence to create something equally special in York.
Dean Saunders continued, “The new venue has phenomenal acoustics, amazing character and so much more than we could have expected. We’re really passionate about the brand, the country music community is really special and our aim is to keep everything as authentic as possible.”
