Popular York bakery announces plans for new location

York bakery Bluebird Bakery have announced plans to open their seventh location.

The bakery, which started from a kitchen table in York by Nicky and Al Kippax 15 years ago, has several locations across Yorkshire – such as Little Shambles, Acomb, Talbot Yard Food Court in Malton, Holmfirth, Beverley, and Leeds Kirkgate Market.

Now, the couple have announced on social media that they will be opening another shop and cafe in Chapel Allerton.

This will be the second Bluebird Bakery location to have a cafe, and its second location in Leeds.

“We love our Leeds Kirkgate Market shop,” they wrote on social media, “and we hope the West Yorkshire appetite for our loaves and cakes will continue into this vibrant suburb, which is full of independent businesses like ours.”

The new shop and cafe will be located on Stainbeck Lane in Chapel Allerton, with inside and outside seating, coffee from Malton company Roost Coffee, and plenty of bread, cakes and pastries.

The new location is set to open this summer, and the bakery have also announced that they will be recruiting soon for barista, cafe assistant, and supervisor positions.

The announcement of the new Chapel Allerton location has received a lot of positive attention on social media, with one person writing “This is fabulous, I love the bread you have at Leeds Kirkgate, I look forward to you opening!” and another commenting “Amazing!!! Can’t wait for you to open. Best bread ever.”
