Police called after two fires started deliberately in York

Two fires were started deliberately in York last night (Saturday).

At 8.55pm, firefighters were called to a fire in Quaker Wood, Acomb.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish the fire and the incident was reported to police as the cause was deliberate.”

Then at 9.23pm, a York crew went to a fire in scrub land at Millennium Green.

Again they put it out with a knapsack sprayer and reported it to the police as it was deliberate.

Earlier, at 8.37pm, firefighters put out a bin on fire at Clifton Backies.
