Now you can get your own York Proms picnic hamper – and help a good cause

Enjoy a delicious luxury picnic while supporting a fantastic cause at the much-loved York Proms picnic concert this weekend.

York Proms have partnered with York Against Cancer to create specially curated hampers that showcase some of the very best local produce, plus generous donations from York businesses.

Highlights include a luxury large sausage roll from Bar Hashery, alongside fresh fruit and vegetables from Simon Baynes Fruit & Veg Supplier, KitKats donated by Nestlé, a traditional cream tea featuring a scone with cream and jam from the Dean Court Hotel, Harrogate Spring Water and additional treats from Tesco.

Guests can pre-order luxury picnic hampers for £25 each, with proceeds helping to support the invaluable work of York Against Cancer.

The charity funds pioneering cancer research, provides practical support for local people affected by cancer, and helps to improve treatment and care for patients across York and North Yorkshire.

York Proms founder, Rebecca Newman, said: “York Proms has always been about bringing people together to enjoy a fantastic evening of music while celebrating everything that’s special about York.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with York Against Cancer, giving our audience the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful picnic while supporting a charity that means so much to so many local families. We’re also incredibly grateful to the businesses who have so generously donated items for the hampers.”

The York Proms has become one of the city’s most anticipated summer events, in an annual night of live entertainment that features a live orchestra, soloists, fireworks finale and local talent on the warm up stage.

This year’s concert features two outstanding soloists: Royal Opera soprano Jennifer Coleman and York-born West End performer Ashley Stilburn.

Claire Robinson from York Against Cancer said: “Every hamper purchased will help us continue supporting local people affected by cancer and funding projects that make a real difference across our region.

“We’re incredibly grateful to York Proms and all the businesses involved for creating such a wonderful way for people to support the charity while enjoying a memorable evening.”

Picnic hampers must be pre-ordered in advance and will be available to collect at the event. Tickets are available at the York Proms website, with no tickets sold on the gates.
