A much-anticipated cowboy-themed bar coming to York has announced its opening date.
The Nashville-inspired venue The Silver Spur is set to bring ‘live country music, great food, and high-energy hospitality’ to the city, and will be swinging open its saloon doors on Friday 29 May.
It will open at 18 Bridge Street, which was previously home to Rio Brazilian Steakhouse.
The opening date was revealed via a social media post, writing “YORK. Dust off those Hats. Polish those boots. The date is set & it’s time to ride. We’ll see you there.”
The menu at The Silver Spur will be bringing a slice of Americana with stone-baked pizzas, ‘proper’ hot dogs, loaded fries, build-your-own grilled cheese and a stacked dessert list – “served with Wild West hospitality”. See the full preview menu at their website here.
The bar will also feature ‘Bourbon, big cocktails, ice-cold lager and pickle-back shots’ – which is a shot of whiskey immediately chased by a shot of pickle brine.
The York opening is an expansion for The Silver Spur brand, which opened its first location in Wakefield in October 2025.
The director of Silver Spur Saloons Limited, the company that owns The Silver Spur bars, is Doug Smith – who was a previous licensee for The Gillygate and The Museum Street Tavern on Museum Street.
The Silver Spur York are also still looking for pizza chefs, kitchen porters, glass collectors, potwashers, and bar supervisors. Head to their Facebook page to see details on how to apply.
The venue has also revealed some sneak peeks of how it looks inside – including neon light fixtures and Wild West-inspired murals. Take a look in our gallery below.
