New shop in York lets customers ‘try before you buy’

Chutneys, curds, and condiments – oh my!

A new shop has opened on Stonegate that’s perfect for ‘picky bits’ season.

The Cherry Tree, at 14 Stonegate, specialises in all things preserves; including chutneys, jams, marmalades, curds, and more.

The Cherry Tree had a soft launch opening last week, but has now officially launched – and it’s already a hit on the street.

Located at 14 Stonegate, it was previously home to apothecary Born of Botanics, which closed and relocated to Tadcaster earlier this year.

It’s a family-owned business that first started in 1997 by by Mark Teideman alongside co-founders Gavin and Sarah. It has several locations across the UK, such as Keswick, Minehead, Falmouth, and Weymouth.

What’s unique about The Cherry Tree, is that all products are available to try in-store.

There’s something to suit every taste-bud – from savoury delights like Real Ale chutney and Caramelised Carrot chutney, to spicy such as Carolina Reaper chilli jam and Hot Garlic pickle, and sweet treats including Passion Fruit curd and Super Berry jam.

And with more than 100 Great Taste and Taste of the West award winners in their range, why not pop in and give them a try.

They also offer gift sets and bundles, to treat the preserve-lover in your life – or yourself!

The Cherry Tree is open at 14 Stonegate every day from 10am to 5pm.
