New look for CrossCountry trains serving York

The 125mph Voyager train has been given a facelift by operator CrossCountry.

The four and five coach units run services from York to Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh and the South West.

They are 25-years-old now and have often been criticised for smells coming from the toilets on board. Overcrowding can be a problem too as the trains do long trips passing many major cities. A Voyager train running between Edinburgh and Penzance via York ends up serving two markets, long-distance and commuter. They often run in pairs to ease this issue.

However, CrossCountry say it’s delighted to share details of the first refurbished Voyager train, with upgraded interiors and a refreshed exterior. They say the new look will be rolled out across their various routes now and you should see one soon.
