If you are planning to eat your way around the globe, a new list of the world’s finest restaurants should be just the ticket.
And the good news is, you don’t have to go far to make a start – as two are right here in North Yorkshire.
The world’s top 1,000 restaurants have been named by travel guide La Liste – and 83 UK spots have made it on to the list.
La Liste uses 1,100 expert sources and millions of online reviews to judge each venue out of 100, and compile the guide.
So which are our local stars?
Mýse

Josh and Vicky Overington, who ran Le Cochon Aveugle on Walmgate, opened Mýse in Hovingham in 2023.
Chef Josh was then awarded a Michelin star the following year.
With a rating of 86.5, Mýse comes in at 32 out of the 83 British restaurants on the list.
The Black Swan at Oldstead

Here’s another restaurant where the chef has been garlanded with a Michelin star.
Tommy Banks’ The Black Swan now makes it to number 41 out of the UK restaurants in the world top 1,000.
It scored 85 out of 100.
Ten restaurants from eight different countries, including Japan, France, China and Italy share the top spot in La Liste’s top 1,000 ranking, with a score of 99.5.
The number one British restaurant is L’Enclume in the Lake District, which got a 99 score.
