Shop bringing a taste of Bhutan opens in York

A shop in York aims to bring Bhutanese culture to the UK.

The store, on Lord Mayor’s Walk, sells Bhutanese memorabilia and food products to expand the culture.

We spoke to the owner of Bhutan Store to find out more.

‘We have a small Bhutanese community here. Based on that we just opened. We want to show our country in the UK, we just opened recently, so if it goes well, we plan to expand across York,” the owner said.

“Our most popular items so far are the red rice, puff rice and our hand-woven bags  People should explore Bhutan; it is a really beautiful country. To know the culture about the people.”

“We are known as the gross national happiest country, so everyone should come and try see our culture.  We have some books so people can read about us to know more.”

The shop is open now so head down to be immersed in the Bhutanese culture and try some tasty food direct from Bhutan.
