A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in York.
Police have just revealed details of the incident, which happened yesterday afternoon and saw a city street cordoned off for hours.
They were called to an address on Trinity Lane in the Micklegate area at around 3.20pm yesterday (Thursday).
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A man in his 40s had received wounds consistent with a stabbing and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
“Two men and three women, aged between 28 and 58, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody.”
Detectives are continuing their investigation today.

The force spokesperson added: “There is a police presence in the area as officers carry out enquiries and support the community.”
A cordon remained in place preventing traffic coming down the one-way street from Micklegate on Friday afternoon.
YorkMix believes the arrest on Kingsway West last night is connected, but we haven’t yet had confirmation from police.
Anyone who has information that they have yet to share is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference NYP-19022026-0285.
