A man has died after entering the water in Whitby.
Emergency services were called to the incident off Khyber Pass shortly after 6pm yesterday (Sunday).
Police, fire crews, the coastguard, the RNLI, road ambulances and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance all attended.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Members of the public pulled the man from the water.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of a 75-year‑old man from Middlesbrough have been informed. Our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
“We would like to thank everyone involved, especially the members of the public who risked their own safety in an effort to save him.”
