Man charged with two more offences over hit-and-run death

A man will appear in court next month charged over the crash which killed a North Yorkshire teenager.

Bailey Chadwick, 19, died in a hit-and-run collision last summer.

The incident happened on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses, as Bailey was walking home during the early hours of Sunday 20 July.

We previously reported that police investigating the crash had charged a 25-year-old man with drink driving and without insurance.

Today (Monday) a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson gave this update: “The same man has also been charged with failing to stop after a road traffic collision and failing to report a road traffic collision. He is due to appear at court on the 12 February 2026.

“The man also remains under investigation for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.

“Due to sensitive nature of this investigation, we have removed the ability for the public to comment on our post. We ask that people avoid speculating on public forums or social media to avoid prejudicing court proceedings.”

Police continue to appeal for any information about the fatal collision.
