Man charged with two counts of rape and wounding in Northallerton

A man has been charged with four offences after a woman was raped in Northallerton.

Police were called to reports of a sexual assault at a house in the town at 1.17am on Thursday.

They launched an investigation and a search, arresting a suspect that evening.

Today North Yorkshire Police issued an update.

A force spokesperson said: “The 26-year-old man from the Durham area who was arrested in connection with a rape investigation in Northalleton has been charged.

“He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday) charged with two counts of rape, wounding with intent and aggravated burglary.”
