A man was seriously injured in the crash that closed the A64 yesterday (Sunday).
The collision happened on the eastbound carriageway shortly before 8am, close to the A659 slip road.
A silver Honda Jazz left the road and collided with a tree.
Crash location
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his forties from the Leeds area, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary, where he remains in a serious condition.
He was the only person in the car.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The road was closed until around 1.30pm to allow specialist Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out investigation work at the scene.
“We are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the vehicle prior to the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.”
