A main road in York was closed by a crash this afternoon (Friday).
Tadcaster Road was shut at the junction with St Helen’s Road. It has now reopened.
Earlier, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The road is expected to remain closed for several hours while emergency services deal with the incident.
Crash location
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route.”
Three cars appear to have been involved.
A black vehicle has come to rest near a traffic light and appears to have struck a Kia head on.

Both the black car and the Kia have badly damage front ends.
A white car has a damaged wing. Both Tadcaster Road and St Helen’s Road were cordoned off. But a recovery vehicle has arrived at the scene to start removing the vehicles.
A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received an emergency call at 2.10pm on Friday afternoon to report a collision on Tadcaster Road, York.
“Three ambulances were dispatched to the scene and three patients were conveyed to York Hospital.”
It’s very near to the location of a crash in February when a Mini ended up in a front garden on this stretch of Tadcaster Road.
