A lorry and van crashed on the A1M in North Yorkshire early this morning (Thursday).
The collision happened on the southbound carriageway between Boroughbridge and Knaresborough at about 1.45am.
The carriageway was closed for a while. National Highways Yorkshire said: “The van is electric – North Yorkshire Police have decided to not allow traffic past scene until fire have assessed the vehicle Image.”
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Knaresborough, Boroughbridge, Tadcaster and Harrogate were requested by police to attended a road traffic collision to assist with scene safety due to a hybrid vehicle smoking.
“Crews used a thermal imagining camera to check for any fire, alongside a gas detector. They found no risk of any fire and left the incident with police.”
The road reopened by 3.21am.
