Police investigating York street attack release new image

Police investigating a street attack in York have issued this image of a man they want to speak to.

It happened on Charlton Street, off Bishopthorpe Road, on at 6.45am on Friday, 5 December.

The victim, a man in his mid-60s, was walking on the street, when he was approached by a man he believed to be under the influence of drink or drugs.

The man kicked the victim in the leg before making further threats. He then walked off in the direction of Fenwick Street.

Officers first appealed for the public’s help last month.

“A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We have previously appealed to the public for information after a 64 year old male was assaulted by a younger male on Charlton Street in York on 5 December 2025.

“As a follow up to this appeal local CCTV has been reviewed and we are now looking to identify the male in the attached image.”
