Due to the current heatwave and the increased risk of lineside fires, the NYMR has moved all current services between Pickering and Grosmont to diesel locomotives.
However, they are still running steam on the lower risk Grosmont to Whitby section, and are monitoring the situation.
They say they apologise for any inconvenience; the safety of the natural surroundings, passengers, staff and volunteers is always their top priority.
A reminder to all passengers visiting NYMR to stay hydrated, use sun protection, and seek shade during peak UV hours (usually 11am to 3pm).
