When a customer started shouting ‘Play Oasis!’ at the jukebox, staff at a York pub knew something was afoot.
It turns out they’ve been targeted by a mysterious sticker prankster.
This shadowy figure has been adding ‘Voice Activated’ labels to various gadgets in the Stone Roses Bar on King Street.
The first one was noticed on Saturday morning, stuck to the jukebox. Then bar manager Joel Langton saw one on the hand drier when he was checking the toilets that night.
It led the pub to put out this plea on social media: “Can whoever is sticking these to our machines please STOP?

“We’ve had someone shouting “Play Oasis” at the jukebox for an hour already today.
“Yesterday, it was the toilets on a hand dryer: ‘dry my hands’ or ‘start’.”
And that wasn’t the end to it, as Joel told YorkMix.
“A few days passed by. Yesterday, I’ve walked around the corner near the disabled toilet and noticed one on the charger machine! So it was like, somebody’s playing a prank on us here.
“We found it hilarious. It’s harmless prank, just one of those funny things.
“Somebody got caught talking to the jukebox, and no one really clicked on to what it was until the next day.”

They don’t know who the culprit is, but the owner of Stone Roses has said if they come along and admits to it, “he will shake their hand and buy them a pint”.
They’ve not checked the CCTV yet to keep the mystery going – but will do to check if and when someone comes forward.
Joel said the episode had caused quite a stir since they shared it on social media. But for clarity, he added: “The only thing that’s voice activated in this place is the bar staff!”
