Girl run over on York zebra crossing by car that didn’t stop

A girl was hit by a car on a zebra crossing – and the driver left the scene.

It happened between 6.10pm and 6.15pm on Tuesday (7 January) on Chaloners Road, Dringhouses.

A teenage girl was standing on the crossing closest to the junction with Wains Grove waiting to cross the road.

Where it happened

As she began to cross, she was hit by the black vehicle. It ran over her foot and broke her toe.

The black vehicle, possibly a 4×4 type car, slowed down initially but didn’t stop.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for the driver of the black car and any witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage or information regarding the vehicle details to contact us.”
