Former York car showroom set to be demolished for new building

A former York car showroom is set to be demolished under new plans.

What was the Evans Halshaw car store on Audax Road, Clifton Moor, would go under the proposals.

In its place, a new ‘speculative industrial unit’ of around of 33,000 sq ft will be built.

It would include a double height and glazed lobby, large open plan office, toilet and shower facilities.

There would be 30 car parking spaces including three spaces for electric vehicle charging, plus cycle storage for up to 42 bikes.

The plans are put forward by a company called IPIF York Unit Trust. The details say: “Three level access loading bay doors are provided which is adequate for this size of industrial development.

“The large concrete service yard with a new access created off Atlas Road is suitable for HGVs to adequately manoeuvre and park to unload/load goods.”

The future occupier is “unknown at this stage”.

Three trees would need to be removed to make way for the proposed service yard access off Atlas Road.
