Five fire crews called out to reports of woman in the river in York

Emergency services were called out after witnesses reported a woman in the river in York late last night (Tuesday).

Fire crews from York, Acomb, Malton, Selby and Ripon, responded to the call-out on Blue Bridge Lane at 11.55pm.

The York Rescue Boat was also called out.

Teams conducted a search of the river until the woman was found safe on the bank. She was handed into the care of police.
