Fire service called after residents leave gas hob on and go away

The fire service were called to every holidaymaker’s nightmare in Ryedale last night.

They went to the incident on Willow Brook Close, Norton at 7.57pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Malton responded to a report of a domestic premises which was found to have had the gas hob left on slightly while the occupiers had been away.

“The premises had been naturally ventilated prior to the arrival of the crews.

“Crews used a gas detector to monitor the gas levels and gave advice to continually naturally ventilate the property.”
