Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to an incident at Selby canal last night (Thursday).
The callout time was 9.06pm.
A person was threatening to enter the canal. A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews set up water rescue equipment and stood by whilst police negotiated with the individual.
“The individual came away from the canal side on their own and was left in the care of police and ambulance crews.”
Earlier, at 6.05pm, firefighters from Knaresborough and Harrogate responded to a report of a person in the river in the town.
“On the arrival of crews, the police were liaising with the individual to encourage them to come out of the water,” the spokesperson said.
“Crews stood by until the individual made their way out of the water and were left in the care of police and ambulance crews.”
