The last member of an organised crime gang which flooded York and Tadcaster with cocaine has been jailed.
Scott Tuohey is the eighth member of the group that transported and sold huge amounts of the drug.
Tuohey, aged 49 from Greasbrough near Rotherham, was jailed today (Wednesday) at York Crown Court for two years and four months for participating in an organised crime gang.
He was involved in debt collection, which included making serious threats to get money.
He denied the offence but was found guilty.
It means the gang has now been jailed for a total of more than 56 years.
North Yorkshire Police’s Organised Crime Unit seized huge hauls of class-A drugs worth more than £50,000 as part of a major operation.
One gang member was caught with £43,000 of high-purity cocaine in a backpack when he was arrested.
The rest of the group was sentenced last year, with members being jailed for up to ten years each.
After the hearing, Detective Constable Leah Kitchen of North Yorkshire Police’s Organised Crime Unit said: “Tuohey’s sentencing today adds to an already substantial total, with this organised crime group now spending well over half a century behind bars.
“Through a diligent and extensive investigation, a serious organised crime gang has been dismantled and can no longer operate in North Yorkshire, with the eighth member now joining his colleagues who are already serving long prison sentences.”
