Police are asking for witnesses to come forward and for dashcam footage following a three-vehicle collision on the A19 at Balne crossroads.
It happened at around 10.15am today (Monday 20 July 2026) and involved a black Audi A3 car, a grey Range Rover, and a white Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.
The driver of the Audi, a 39-year-old man from Selby, is in a critical condition in hospital. He and a passenger had to be removed from the vehicle by firefighters.
The passenger, and the drivers of the other vehicles, were also taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
The stretch of road is currently closed between the M62 and Bull Lane.
It is expected to remain closed until around 7pm while collision investigators work at the scene.
Motorists are asked to follow the diversions until further notice.
