Driver dies after lorry crash near Selby

A lorry driver died after a crash near Selby today (Tuesday).

It happened at Drax shortly after 2am. A white Scania HGV left the road before it came to rest in a field.

The driver and sole occupant of the lorry, a man in his sixties from the Humberside area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

That was despite the best efforts from a member of the public and emergency workers.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The road was closed until around 1pm this afternoon to allow for collision investigation work to take place and for the vehicle to be recovered.

“We are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have seen the HGV prior to the collision or anyone with any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us.”
