Dispersal order in place in Thirsk tonight after an increase in antisocial behaviour

A Dispersal Order is in place in Thirsk this evening (Tuesday 9 December) following reports of an increase in antisocial behaviour.

Large groups of people have been reported causing alarm to members of the public.

The order has been in place since 3.30pm and lasts until 3.30am in the area shown on the map.

The order gives the police the power to disperse groups of people and direct them to leave the area. It prevents their return to the area within 48 hours. Failure to comply with the direction to leave is a criminal offence.

Police in the town say please report antisocial behaviour to us on 101, or 999 if it is happening now.
