The parents of a young man who has been missing for a month say they are devastated”.

This weekend marks a month since Ryan Rudd, 28, did not return to his barracks at Catterick Garrison after a night out in Selby.

He was last seen in the early hours of Sunday 15 February. He was reported missing to police on Sunday 1 March.

Out with two friends, Ryan was in the New Inn on Gowthorpe early on that Sunday.

The last confirmed sighting of him was at 2.54am walking past the Old Flour Factory towards New Millgate.

Ryan is described as

  • white
  • around 5ft 8in tall
  • of slim build
  • with dark brown hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing a black t-shirt, blue hooded top and black trousers.

Ryan’s Mum Kerstin and Dad Ken today released a new image of Ryan, see above, together with this statement: “As a family, we are devastated and struggling to put into words how we feel.

CCTV of Ryan on the night he was last seen

“We would ask anyone who has even the smallest piece of information that could help bring Ryan home to please contact the police. We are desperate to have him back.”

Police trawled CCTV from across the area and carried out door-to-door enquiries. Specialist teams have searched key locations on both land and water using drones to scour hard‑to‑reach areas.

Inspector Ciaran Conlon from North Yorkshire Police said: “This is an extremely difficult time for Ryan’s family, and they are currently receiving support from specialist officers.

Police are very concerned for his safety

“As with any investigation, we remain open minded and will continue to explore all lines of enquiry, but we must accept the possibility that Ryan has entered the River Ouse.

“If you do have any information which can help with the search then please call us 101. Any immediate sightings should be reported to 999.”
